“Prophet Of The Highest”

Prophet Of The Highest

Luke 1:76-78 KJV “And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways; [77] To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins, [78] Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us.”

What an honor and privilege! The above passage is talking about John The Baptist. John The Baptist,” was really John the, “Prophet Of The Highest.” That’s what Jesus called him. (Luke 7:24-26) This was prophesied about him while he was yet a child:

Luke 1:80 KJV “And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel.”

John like other prophets in the Bible spent lots of time alone. His moral character (spirit) was sculpted while praying to his Father in the wilderness and meditating on His words. This guy was not normal. (Matthew 3:4) Is any true prophet of God normal?🤔 I did some research on prophets recently. Many went through life itinerant and separated from others like John. They were hardly stationary always traveling from place to place:

Hebrews 11:38 NET “(The world was not worthy of them); they wandered in deserts and mountains and caves and openings in the earth.”

How often Jesus warned us to watch out for false prophets in the last days. But does that mean there aren’t any real ones.🤔 No.

The life of a prophet wasn’t easy and it’s still not. Think about it: a huge part of your job is to tell people to repent of their sins. You’re constantly making others feel guilty so it seems. If they listen to your message from God they receive God’s blessing and many wonderful promises like eternal life. If they refuse to listen they receive God’s curses and damnation. As a true prophet you can not deliver such a message with fear:

Jeremiah 1:17 NET““But you, Jeremiah, get yourself ready! Go and tell these people everything I instruct you to say. Do not be terrified of them, or I will give you good reason to be terrified of them.””

A prophet is a spokesperson for Almighty God inspired by God to speak His judgments and blessings. The prophet seeks to bestow a blessing not a curse. But to most he/she might as well be cursing them out because that’s what God’s message sounds like to them. Most do not want to repent. And because they reject God and His only way to be saved (faith in Jesus Christ) they bring eternal curses on themselves. If it was your job to deliver such a message boldly, regularly, do you think your life would always go smooth in this world?🤔

Jesus said:

Matthew‬ ‭23:34-36‬ ‭CSB‬‬ “This is why I AM SENDING YOU PROPHETS, sages, and scribes. Some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town. So all the righteous blood shed on the earth will be charged to you, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the sanctuary and the altar. Truly I tell you, all these things will come on this generation.”

GOD HAS TRUE PROPHETS

1 Corinthians 12:28 KJV “And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily PROPHETS, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.”

Ephesians 4:11-12 KJV “And he gave some, apostles; and some, PROPHETS; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; [12] For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.”

According to the scriptures we just read God still has prophets and prophetesses on earth. How often Jesus warned us to watch out for false prophets in the last days. But does that mean there aren’t any real ones.🤔 No.

1 Corinthians 12:29-30 KJV “Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? [30] Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?”

Not everyone is called to be a prophet but some are. And like John The Baptist and other prophets in the Bible the Lord takes them through the same process that office entails. If you’re one of these people I would like to encourage you to hang in there brother/sister. God will not forsake you!😊 You are a highly favored vessel in the Lord; a, “Prophet Of The Highest!”  Thank you for your service and obeying God by speaking His message fearlessly. Lives are being saved. God will continue to empower you to fulfill your ministry:

Philippians 1:6 NET “For I am sure of this very thing, that the one who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.”

Ephesians 1:16-19 NET “I do not cease to give thanks for you when I remember you in my prayers. I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you spiritual wisdom and revelation in your growing knowledge of him, – since the eyes of your heart have been enlightened – so that you may know what is the hope of his calling, what is the wealth of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the incomparable greatness of his power toward us who believe, as displayed in the exercise of his immense strength.”
