Isaiah 5:20 KJV “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”
Romans 3:8 CSB “And why not say, just as some people slanderously claim we say, “Let us do what is evil so that good may come”? Their condemnation is deserved!”
Believing you can get good from doing evil is nothing new. It’s one of the oldest tricks around. It dates all the way back to The Garden Of Eden. It is the lie the Devil told Eve:
Genesis 3:1-5 KJV “Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”
Satan told Eve that good would result from her doing evil in disobeying God. He even said, “Ye shall be as gods!” How often do we here that today; become your own god? It originates with the Devil. When you go against Almighty God you don’t reach godlike status or get anything good. All you get is curses, period.
THE SAME OLD TRICK
You and I will hear messages telling us to do evil in order to bring about good. There will always be benefits attached to breaking God’s laws just as when the serpent tempted Eve. (Revelation 13:15-17) Satan will even use scripture to do this just as he did when tempting Jesus in the wilderness:
Matthew 4:1-11 CSB “Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. Then the tempter approached him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” He answered, “It is written: Man must not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” Then the devil took him to the holy city, had him stand on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down. For it is written: He will give his angels orders concerning you, and they will support you with their hands so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. ” Jesus told him, “It is also written: Do not test the Lord your God.” Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. And he said to him, “I will give you all these things if you will fall down and worship me.” Then Jesus told him, “Go away, Satan! For it is written: Worship the Lord your God, and serve only him.” Then the devil left him, and angels came and began to serve him.”
After the Devil failed at the first two attempts with Jesus did you notice he then TOOK Jesus to a very high mountain and SHOWED him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory? How was Satan able to show Jesus ALL the kingdoms of the world and their glory from one spot on earth? By means of a vision. In fact the Greek word here for, “SHOWED,” is the same Greek word used in Revelation where the apostle John was shown visions from God. If Satan was permitted to do this while tempting Jesus you think he can’t show other people visions too?🤔
Could false dreams and visions be one of the reasons why there are so many false prophets in the world today?🤔 Yes. On YouTube and other forms of social media everybody’s a prophet or prophetess. So many claim to have dreams and visions from God. How many of these dreamers are being exposed these days, even to themselves?😳 Some of them appear to be in shock when their predictions don’t come true. Maybe they just fear losing followers and donations after looking like a false prophet. Or could it be they were tricked by Satan into actually believing that what they saw and heard in their dreams and visions was from God?🤔
GOD’S TEST OF A FALSE PROPHET
Deuteronomy 18:21-22 NET “Now if you say to yourselves, ‘How can we tell that a message is not from the LORD?’ – whenever a prophet SPEAKS IN MY NAME and THE PREDICTION IS NOT FULFILLED, then I HAVE NOT SPOKEN IT; the prophet has presumed to speak it, so you need not fear him.””
Jeremiah 23:25-32 NET “The LORD says, “I have heard what those prophets who are prophesying lies in my name are saying. They are saying, ‘I have had a dream! I have had a dream!’ Those prophets are just prophesying lies. They are prophesying the delusions of their own minds. How long will they go on plotting to make my people forget who I am through the dreams they tell one another? That is just as bad as what their ancestors did when they forgot who I am by worshiping the god Baal. Let the prophet who has had a dream go ahead and tell his dream. Let the person who has received my message report that message faithfully. What is like straw cannot compare to what is like grain! I, the LORD, affirm it! My message is like a fire that purges dross! It is like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces! I, the LORD, so affirm it! So I, the LORD, affirm that I am opposed to those prophets who steal messages from one another that they claim are from me. I, the LORD, AFFIRM that I am opposed to those prophets who are using their own tongues to declare, ‘The LORD declares….’ I, the LORD, affirm that I am opposed to those prophets who dream up lies and report them. They are misleading my people with their reckless lies. I did not send them. I did not commission them. They are not helping these people at all. I, the LORD, affirm it!””
As we can see God takes false dreams and visions very seriously. So much for, “God told me that this person would win the presidential election,” and it never happened.😳 According to God’s word that’s a false prophet. Let us be careful and pray for discernment when people tell us their dreams and visions. (1 Thessalonians 5:20-22 1 John 4:1)
DREAMS AND VISIONS
Acts 2:17-18 NLT “‘In the last days,’ God says, ‘I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. In those days I will pour out my Spirit even on my servants—men and women alike— and they will prophesy.”
There are times we may have a dream or vision and know instantly, “That dream is from God!”😊 But with others we may not be sure.🤔 When this happens don’t presume anything and spread what we THINK or FEEL God said. This is dangerous. Instead go to God in prayer and ask Him for guidance, wisdom, and for a spirit of revelation. (Ephesians 1:17 James 1:5-8) Jesus is THE TRUTH. (John 14:6) The Father desires us to worship Him in spirit and in TRUTH. (John 4:23-24) He doesn’t want us to be hoodwinked by dreams and visions from others or ourselves. All we have to do is (A)sk, (S)eek, And (K)nock. The first letters of those 3 words (ask seek knock) spells A,S,K, ask.😊 (Matthew 7:7) God will lead us to the truth if we come to Him with sincere hearts. We’re commanded to test everything by the Spirit; by the written word of God. Whatever does not match God’s word is not from Him.
Sometimes those weird, mysterious dreams are actually from God, we just don’t understand them yet. It was some years later before Joseph understood the dreams God gave him when he was a young lad. (Genesis 37:5-11) Sometimes we have to wait on God to reveal things in his own time. It’s better to pray to God for understanding and wait than to presumptuously interpret what we think God is saying in a dream or vision.
Many well respected religious leaders just got found out when they made false predictions about the United Sates presidential election. And you know what’s sad? Folks claiming to be Christians will still follow them even though God plainly says their false predictions made in His name makes them false prophets. Beware of false prophets. And don’t become one by presumptuously telling false interpretations of dreams and visions. You cannot get any good from this kind of evil.

Galatians 5:16 KJV “This I say then, WALK in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.”
WALK : Strong’s Definition, Strong’s Number G4043
“From G4012 and G3961; to tread all around that is walk at large (especially as proof of ability); figuratively to live deport oneself follow (as a companion or votary): – go be occupied with walk (about).”
Walking in the Spirit means, “To deport oneself,” to the Spirit? To live with the Spirit or be absent from all and be in the presence of the Holy Spirit? It also means, “To tread all around and to follow the Holy Spirit like a companion. Yes, this is what walking in the Spirit entails. Many who have come to Christ know exactly what this means. When they came to the Lord the Holy Spirit took them on a journey where it was just Him and them. They found rest for their souls as Jesus promised. (Matthew 11:28-30). Who does not feel refreshed when they get alone with the Spirit and engage in the things of God? The more we get away and are caught up in spiritual matters; study of the word, meditation and application of God’s word, prayer, spreading the gospel, doing good deeds, etcetera, we will not satisfy the desires of the flesh. (Galatians 5:19-21)
THE GREATEST PURSUIT
The same way a guy pursues a woman we must pursue the Spirit.😊 When you first fell in love were you ever too busy for that girl/guy? No. So how are we too busy for Bible study? Or for Prayer?🤔 When you were out in public with your girl or guy were you ashamed to be seen with them? No. Some of us wanted the world to know, “Hey, this is my girlfriend! My fiancé! My husband! My wife!” So why would we be ashamed to be seen in public with Jesus? Why would we be ashamed of spreading the good news of salvation through the love of our life Jesus Christ? Why would we not want to tell the world, “Hey, this is my LORD and Savior, His name is Jesus?”😊 (Luke 9:26)
When your girlfriend told you her favorite ice cream flavor was vanilla did you not go out and buy her 2 gallons of vanilla ice cream?🍨😊 So when Jesus tells us His favorite flavor is LOVE why would we not try to please Him? When Jesus tells us he likes a scoop of LOVE with 2 scoops of FORGIVENESS on top, and then some chocolate syrup COMPASSION poured on top why would we not rush to give Him what He wants? Could it be that we are we falling away and are lukewarm? Are we falling out of love with Jesus?🤔 Guess what? Jesus’ love for us is so strong HE WILL FORGIVE US and restore our relationship with Him if we repent.😊
Walking in the spirit is an active decision and lifestyle. One must choose regularly to get away from all distractions and be occupied with the things of God. We must follow Him all around as our companion, pursuing Him and how to please Him. Then we will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
