Slow Down

Slow Down

Ecclesiastes 9:11 KJV “…The race is not to the swift…”

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

How often do we hear advice encouraging us to slow down? “Speed up!” “Go faster!” is what the boss says at the job. ‘This phone is faster, that computer is quicker, this internet service is the fastest,’ is what we hear. Rush to do this hasten to do that. When I was growing up as a youngster in the 80s speed was a popular drug. Seems like it still is.

I’ve been hearing a different voice lately; a quiet still voice inside that says, “Slow down.” What is that voice, or WHO is that voice? Am I going crazy? I don’t think so.🤪 I believe that voice to be God. Why? Because everything God says is always opposite of what this world says and vice versa.

Isaiah 55:8-9 HCSB ““For My thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not My ways.” This is the Lord’s declaration. “For as heaven is higher than earth, so My ways are higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.”

To illustrate just how opposite our thinking is from God’s here’s a quote from the article, “God’s Ways Not Man’s Ways,” Endtimeschoices’s Blog on WordPress: (Yes it’s spelled that way)

“To go in, one must come out. (John 15:19)

To go up, one must come down. (James 4:10)

To be first, one must be last. (Matthew 20:16)

To be great, one must be least. (Luke 9:48)

To be strong, one must become weak. (2 Corinthians 12:10)

To receive one must give. (Matthew 10:39)

To be up in front, one must take the back seat. (Luke 14:7-11)

To be exalted one must be humbled. (Luke 14:11)

To be wise, one must become a fool. (1 Corinthians 3:18)

To find, one must lose. (Matthew 16:25)

To live, one must die. (Galatians 2:20; Jn 3:3)

The above scripture passages aren’t foreign to most of us but seeing them all grouped together can be daunting. Yet this is God’s way, the right way. Oh how our thinking is so different from God’s!😞

So when we hear a voice inside us saying, “Slow down,” in a world that’s always saying, “Speed up!” chances are it may be God.😊 Ask yourself, do plans usually succeed when I rush or when I don’t? Do I leave the house and forget things when I’m rushed or when I’m not?  Do people pick the right boyfriend, girlfriend, husband or wife when they move fast or when they move slow? You know the answer to these questions. Let us slow our roll y’all. Not only will we make better decisions, we will savor the joys of life. That’s right, even in this wicked, sick, witchcraft world one can experience joys in life as God intended. Patience is the key.😊

Psalms 145:16 HCSB “You open Your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing.”

Psalms 16:11 HCSB “You reveal the path of life to me; in Your presence is abundant joy; in Your right hand are eternal pleasures.”

Psalm 37:4 KJV “Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.”

Slow down and enjoy life. Life has a rhythm. The tempo is set by God. Don’t dance ahead of the beat. Get in step with the Holy Spirit. Swim with (not against) God’s current and live FOREVER!😊

Dinner With Jesus

Dinner With Jesus

Revelation 3:20 HCSB “Listen! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and have dinner with him, and he with Me.”

___________________________________________________________________________________________________

What an invitation!😃 Who would turn down having dinner with Jesus? When we hear His voice do we open the door?

John 6:51-58 HCSB “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread he will live forever. The bread that I will give for the life of the world is My flesh.” At that, the Jews argued among themselves, “How can this man give us His flesh to eat? ” So Jesus said to them, “I assure you: Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you do not have life in yourselves. Anyone who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day, because My flesh is real food and My blood is real drink. The one who eats My flesh and drinks My blood lives in Me, and I in him. Just as the living Father sent Me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on Me will live because of Me. This is the bread that came down from heaven; it is not like the manna your fathers ate — and they died. The one who eats this bread will live forever.””

Are we feeding on Jesus? Are we chewing on and digesting His words? (John 15:7) Are we drinking His blood; receiving it, for the forgiveness of sins? Or are we trying to achieve righteousness on our own, through our works? (1 John 1:7-9) Jesus is the real bread from heaven. Feeding on Him and drinking His blood means eternal life! Some of us dine with Jesus every day. How blessed you are!😃

Luke 12:37 CEB “Happy are those servants whom the master finds waiting up when he arrives. I assure you that, when he arrives, he will dress himself to serve, seat them at the table as honored guests, and wait on them.”

Revelation 19:6-9 CEB “And I heard something that sounded like a huge crowd, like rushing water and powerful thunder. They said, “Hallelujah! The Lord our God, the Almighty, exercised his royal power! Let us rejoice and celebrate, and give him the glory, for the wedding day of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. She was given fine, pure white linen to wear, for the fine linen is the saints’ acts of justice.” Then the angel said to me, “Write this: Favored are those who have been invited to the wedding banquet of the Lamb.” He said to me, “These are the true words of God.””

Do you see what dining with Jesus now will ultimately lead to?😃 Dining with Him forever!😂

A Brother’s Testimony To The Power Of Prayer

A Brother’s Testimony To The Power Of Prayer

A few years ago I was riding on the back of a train exactly like this one. It was winter time and I was rolling through Utah and I was what we call “gearless and fearless” meaning I did not have the proper camping gear, no sleeping bag or blanket, no pack, just the clothes on my back. It was well below freezing and my feet felt like they were blocks of ice and I was truly freezing my friends. The train slowed as we were rolling through some town and I prayed to God “please stop this train so I can get some gear”. That train stopped literally 3-5 minutes after that. I got off and I was directly behind a building that said “Klymit” and I could see it was a big store that manufactured and sold backpacking gear. The store was closed so I looked into the dumpster behind the store and my eyes could not believe what I saw. Inside that dumpster were many high quality sleeping bags and sleeping pads, MANY to choose from. They must have been defects or returns. Down sleeping bags, the good ones. It makes me tear up because I know the Lord provided for me that day, and I have many more stories similar to this. I left there with 2 sleeping bags and 2 sleeping pads, because I knew I would find another homeless person to give to… I’m sharing this because I know it’s true that if you believe what God says in Mathew Chapter 6 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value then they? Yes it is good to be prepared and to stock up on supplies, but always remember that God will provide, his words are true, you just have to believe it.
